Research Topic: Analysis of neuronal morphology and calcium imaging
Project and Position Details: The Glykys Lab focuses on understanding how the brain’s inhibitory system operates at the cellular level and the mechanisms underlying neuronal swelling in pathological conditions.
Project Position:
We seek a highly motivated individual interested in neurosciences to analyze neuronal calcium and size changes during pathological insults, including neurotoxic injury, using ImageJ, MATLAB, and other software and algorithms. This is an analysis position where the fluorescent images will be provided. Training will be provided. The candidate will work closely with a graduate student under the supervision of Dr. Glykys. Depending on performance, further lab activity projects are available.
Qualifications: The applicant should be a sophomore or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Computer Engineering, Biology, or related fields. Basic computational and programming skills. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of Excel.
Time Commitment: 6-12 hours a week.
Compensation: Volunteer (Optional registration for URES:3991 or URES:3992 0-credit transcript recognition)
Start Date: Immediate, Near future
Timeline: Ongoing, potential to be a continuous position
