Project and Position Details
The Byrne Lab is seeking a motivated undergraduate student in Mechanical Engineering to support the development of new technologies aimed at improving the standard of care for cancer patients. This position offers hands‑on experience at the intersection of engineering and medicine, contributing to projects that directly support patient‑centered innovation.
Responsibilities may include:
- Designing and building prototypes for emerging medical technologies
- 3D printing and CAD modeling
- Soldering, assembly, and basic electronics work
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, clinicians, and scientists
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Interest in medical device development or healthcare innovation
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) is helpful but not required
- Willingness to learn new fabrication and prototyping skills
