Research Topic
Developing engineering solutions to reduce infectious respiratory disease transmission

Project and Position Details
We seek highly motivated students interested in developing interdisciplinary laboratory skills, including basic microbiology practices, air and aerosol sampling techniques, and analytical methods. The overall goal of our lab is to understand the interactions between different environmental factors and respiratory pathogens, and to develop engineering controls that mitigate disease transmission.

Responsibilities include:
1. Help with daily lab chores and maintenance
2. Support the preparation, calibration, and maintenance of lab equipment
3. Prepare samples and research materials and conduct supportive experiments following SOP
4. Perform data entry and conduct basic quantitative analyses using Excel

Depending on the individual, the applicant may have the opportunity to work on independent projects.

Qualifications
Students are reliable, organized, paying attention to details, able to work independently, and interested in pursuing a research career. Preferred to have prior microbiology skills or be comfortable with engineering tools.

Time Commitment
10-20 hours/week during academic year, summer up to 40 hours/week.

Compensation
Volunteer (Optional registration for URES:3991 or URES:3992 0-credit transcript recognition), Academic Credit (1-4 Semester Hours), Pay
