Prestigious Fellowships Available for Undergraduate Research

The Iowa Sciences Academy is seeking current sophomores and juniors involved in research to join the UI-MARC program during the academic year of 2025 - 2026. The UI-MARC (Maximizing Access to Research Careers) is an NIH-funded program that supports students committed to pursuing a research-focused PhD or MD/PhD program in the biomedical sciences (not intended for clinical only careers). The fellowship is for June 1, 2025 - May 30, 2026, during a student's junior or senior year.

This in-person event features short talks by undergraduate students about their research who are currently supported by programs administered by the Iowa Sciences Academy. Cancer Research Opportunities at Iowa

The application is now open for the University of Iowa’s Cancer Research Opportunities at Iowa (CROI) undergraduate summer program. Our 10 week program features an individual research project, oral and poster presentation, mentoring, clinical shadowing, and career development opportunities.

Unveiling GPCR signaling in cancer and obesity: function and therapeutic options

The research focuses on investigating the signaling mechanisms underlying the development of obesity and breast cancer. This project offers ample opportunities for undergraduate student involvement. Depending on their experience, students may assist with lab maintenance, support experimental procedures, and receive guidance in applying for the ICRU fellowship. With substantial contributions, students may also have the opportunity to co-author manuscripts.

Poster Workshop

Are you planning on presenting at the Fall Undergraduate Research Festival? On Tuesday the 22nd from 4-5pm 140 BHC, OUR research ambassadors will be presenting a workshop on how to make and organize a research poster! The ambassadors all have experience giving poster presentations, and they will be able to answer specific questions and review poster drafts. Stop by for help and feedback!

Resilient Voices: A Multimedia Exhibition Celebrating Youth Empowerment, Global Perspectives, and the Legacy of Anne Frank

At the Iowa City Public Library (ICPL), there will be a Digital Diary exhibit showcasing stories of children from around the world and throughout history, highlighting the challenges they faced during wars and conflicts. Alongside this, local youth will present their submissions in various media, including writing and art, exploring themes of war, personal struggle, resilience, and peace.
