About the Iowa Space Grant Consortium (ISGC)
Iowa Space Grant Consortium seeks to improve and inspire Iowa’s future generation into pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Specifically, ISGC supports NASA-relevant STEM research, education, and outreach activities through NASA internships, fellowships, and scholarships, competitions for grants within higher education members (with NASA Mission Directorate alignment), as well as informal education grants with outreach affiliates.
The ISGC is dedicated to continually improving and inspiring Iowans’ future in STEM, bringing NASA opportunities to Iowa through a variety of programmatic opportunities and collaborations.
2025-2026 Undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship Program
ISGC supports eight $5,000 scholarships (a $2,500 award per semester) for student researchers! These scholarships are aimed at students participating in STEM research with a strong academic standing.
Eligibility:
• U.S. citizenship
• Full-time enrollment at DMACC, Drake, ISU, Loras, Morningside, UI, or UNI as of August 2025
• Graduation date no earlier than May 2026
• Majoring in STEM disciplines (includes Preservice STEM education majors)
• Currently working on a faculty-mentored research project that has NASA STEM relevance
• Good academic standing (minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA)
These scholarships will be competitively awarded based on complete application information including academic qualifications, research project involvement, NASA alignment, and a faculty letter of recommendation.
Award winners will be required to present their research as a poster presentation at the ISGC Student Research Symposium in Spring 2026 and participate in a longitudinal study.

2025-2026 1st Year (Merit) ISGC Scholarship Program
ISGC supports eleven $3,000 scholarships for student researchers! These scholarships are aimed at students participating in STEM research and applicable for merit-based scholarships.
Eligibility:
• U.S. citizenship
• Full-time enrollment at DMACC, Drake, ISU, Loras, Morningside , UI, or UNI as of August 2025
• Graduation date no earlier than May 2026
• Majoring in STEM disciplines (includes Preservice STEM education majors)
• Good academic standing (minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA)
• * Students currently enrolled in a 2-yr community college program who are transferring into a fulltime 4-yr program at Drake, ISU, Loras, Morningside, UI, or UNI as of August 2025 are also eligible
to apply
To be considered, an applicant must describe leadership or service within your community, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on the high school transcript, and describe financial need.
Awardees will be required to present their research as a poster presentation at the ISGC Student Research Symposium in April 2026, complete two surveys during the school year, and participate in a longitudinal study looking at job outcomes.
