Project and Position Details
Dr. Barry London's laboratory studies the molecular and genetic basis of cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death in animal models, human families with inherited rhythm disorders, and populations at increased risk for sudden death. You will initially assist by stocking supplies, cleaning, labeling, autoclaving, preparing solutions, and working with lab staff to prepare and conduct experiments. Routine experiments include DNA extraction, PCR, genotyping, Sanger sequencing, molecular cloning, and western blots. Undergraduates in the laboratory have typically been able to work independently on projects after one to two years experience.
Qualifications
Lab experience is a plus but we are willing to train biological sciences/medical school-focused applicants. Applicant must be responsible, hard-working, dependable, and organized.
Time Commitment
At least 8 hours a week, preferably more, for at least 3-4 hours at a time. Preferably able to work more hours during the summer.
