This program provides funding for faculty (or teams of faculty) to work with 2–4 undergraduates on a single research or creative project.
A mentor (PI) cannot hold both an ICRU and a GCRU simultaneously. If an ICRU has already been awarded to a mentor, that fellow must be included in the GCRU as one of the 2–4 students.
For projects involving multiple faculty members, only one application should be submitted.
Faculty mentors cannot be on sabbatical for any portion of the fellowship term.
Applications must be submitted by a University of Iowa (UI) faculty member, not a student.
When completing your application, select all terms for which you are seeking funding, as additional funding rounds may not be available.
University of Iowa faculty across all colleges are eligible to apply for these funds. Projects should be student-research driven. Successful applications will detail how this work enriches the student experience, helps towards student goals, and advances PI scholarship. Preference will be given to applications in which students have already been identified. And while the undergraduate students do not need to be identified at the time of submission, their information must be provided to the Office of Undergraduate Research as soon as possible, as these funds are awarded directly to the students.
Proposals that focus on distinctive collaborative opportunities such as writing and communication, brain science and mental health, and cancer research and patient care are especially encouraged.
