The Brain Lesion and Neuromodulation Laboratory (BLNL) is seeking 1-2 undergraduate research assistants. The BLNL investigates brain mechanisms of behavior and cognition using lesion-deficit mapping and neuromodulation (electrical brain stimulation). The assistants will be asked to help with projects focused on neuropsychological outcomes after neurosurgery among patients with epilepsy, and/or pioneering a new test of working memory for use in various neuropsychological settings (acute stroke, standard outpatient exams, electrical stimulation mapping in patients with epilepsy). Duties may include: assisting with digitizing paper records of neuropsychological testing of patients with focal brain lesions, administering neuropsychological tests, and data entry.

Join a multi-disciplinary research team including clinical neuropsychologists, audiologists and speech and hearing scientists studying the impact of hearing on quality of life in cochlear implant users. In this role, you will learn about clinical neuropsychology, hearing science, smartphone data collection technology, social network analysis and more.

Dr. Dokun’s lab is located at Eckstein Medical Research Building (EMRB). His research interest focuses on understanding how genetic factors and the metabolic abnormalities associated with diabetes contribute to vascular diseases such as peripheral artery disease (PAD). All undergraduate volunteers will be involved in on going research projects. Prior experience is strongly desired, but training will also be provided. Our goal is to have each volunteer assigned an independent research project. Recognition will be awarded from transcript recognition to publication co-authorship.
