Research assistants will have the opportunity to work with study participants who use carbon fiber custom dynamic orthoses (CDOs) for a number of conditions (e.g. traumatic lower limb injury, Charcot Marie Tooth Disease). Lab procedures include biomechanical gait analysis sessions using motion capture cameras and force plates, physical performance measure testing, creation and application of study questionnaires, mechanical testing of CDOs, and data processing and analysis.

Opportunity to work with Music Education Professor on music-making in prison contexts. Responsibilities will vary based on student interests and schedule but may include, collaborating on original music with an incarcerated songwriter, creating music videos for original songs collaborating with various artists, build social media campaigns and more.

Paid 2.5-week, team-based undergraduate research experience in which students design, build, and deploy small instrument payloads on drones or high-altitude balloons to collect measurements of the Earth’s surface and atmosphere. This hands-on program emphasizes learning by doing and does not require prior experience in hardware, instrumentation, electronics, programming, 3D fabrication, or data analysis.

10-day paid summer camp / mini-internship focused on weather prediction, local weather intelligence assessment, and resilience in agricultural and rural communities. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the program provides hands-on training and exposure to emerging technologies and interdisciplinary research approaches.

OUR Ambassador Hiruni Sumanasiri was the third place undergraduate winner for the Alyse Gray Parker Memorial Student Video Challenge. This competition invites students from the Science Coalition (TSC) member institutions to communicate the value of federally funded scientific research at American colleges and universitites.

The Stanley Undergraduate and Graduate Awards for International Research are given annually to outstanding University of Iowa students for the pursuit of research and learning activities outside of the United States.
