FAQ

These are some of the most asked questions regarding OUR Fellowships.  If you have additional questions not answered here, please contact us at undergraduate-research@uiowa.edu.

How many hours are ICRU Fellows required to work?

  • Academic Year Fellows are asked to put in about 8-10 hours of work into their Fellowship per week. Fellows are NOT expected to work during Finals Week or breaks.
  • Summer Fellows are asked to work 15-20 hours per week over the course of 10 weeks.

How is funding disbursed (how do I get paid)?

  • Funding is disbursed as a scholarship through the MAUI system. This may impact your financial aid*.
  • For the academic year, it is disbursed once at the beginning of the Fall and once at the beginning of the Spring semester. During the Summer, funding is disbursed during the first and last week of June.
  • Funding will be applied to the Fellow's University account. If there is a balance in UBill, the funds will be applied to that first. Those funds will then be disbursed to the student via check or direct deposit. NOTE: Be certain that the account you have on file is the one you would like your funds to be disbursed to.

* Fellows who need to work out a different payment schedule should contact OUR directly.

How can I check my funding?

  1. Log in to MYUI
  2. In the gold bar across the top of the page, you need to select the 'Financial Aid & Billing' section.
  3. Once it opens the 'Student Finances', look to the right column named 'Finances and Billing'. The second item down is called 'Aid Disbursement'. Click the link.
  4. This will allow you to view your funds for the session that you select. Be certain to select the session you are expecting the funds for.

If you do not see your funds, or you are struggling to find them, please contact OUR. We can track when funding was disbursed and potentially refunded.
