• Applications must be submitted by a University of Iowa (UI) faculty member 

  • Co-PI’s must also be UI-affiliated faculty, professional/research staff, or post-doctoral scholars 

  • Students must be full time undergraduates or returning if awarded over the summer 

  • Students selected for this project may not be an ICRU/AHI/EURA fellow at the time of this project

    • PIs cannot have a simultaneous ICRU/AHI/EURA and GCRU award running

  • Senior projects, thesis, capstone, and similar individual projects are not eligible for funding 

Student Eligibility

  • Registered as a full-time, degree seeking UI  undergraduate for the specified term.
  • U2G students who have received their undergraduate diploma before the specified term are not eligible for ICRU Fellowships (U2G students should discuss the timeline with their advisor and/or a OUR staff to determine eligibility)
  • If you are a part of a GCRU, were selected by a Mentor to be their DMA Fellow, or received an EURA Fellowship, you are not eligible to be an ICRU Fellow. Ex: You are a part of a GCRU Fellowship for Summer 2026, therefore you cannot apply for the Summer 2026 ICRU Fellowship. 

Summer ICRU Fellowships

  • Students who have received their bachelor's degree cannot participate in the summer fellowship.
  • Summer participation does not require enrollment for the summer term.
  • You are NOT eligible if you apply to the Summer ICRU Fellowship if you have a stipend-based summer undergraduate research opportunity, including BSURF, BSSURP, SPROP, etc.

Mentor Eligibility

  • Active appointment as a faculty member
  • Apply for only one OUR Fellowship per session
  • If you have a GCRU, received a DMA Fellowship, or have a student who have received EURA Fellowships, you are not eligible to be awarded an ICRU Fellow for the specified term.
  • If submitting applications for summer and academic year for the same project, the application should show the expected progress

Academic Year ICRU Fellowships

  • For academic term Fellows, undergraduate students must be a full-time, degree-seeking student for the term for which they are applying.
  • U2G Students are not eligible if they have already received their bachelor's degree
