Biography

I am the Langmuir Probe instrument lead on the OCHRE (Observing Cusp High-altitude Reconnection and Electrodynamics) Student Rocket mission, which aims to study magnetosphere dynamics at the poles. This mission is tandem off of the TRACERS (Tandem Reconnection and Cusp Electrodynamics Reconnaissance Satellites) Mission, which just launched in July! I am also working on analyzing data from the ACES II (Aurora Current and Electrodynamics Structures II) Mission. This mission aims to study the electric currents that "power" the northern lights. I enjoy my research because of how challenging it is, and because it shows how applicable most of the knowledge I learn in my fundamental courses becomes! I also enjoy how applicable my research is in solving modern-day problems, such as improving satellite communication and instrumentation to withstand space-weather.

Outside of research, I enjoy competing with my team and talking about philosophy in Ethics Bowl! I also enjoy reading for pleasure, and exploring the trails around the Iowa City and Coralville area.
