The Office of Undergraduate Research proudly presents 2026 EURA Winner Lindsey Henkenius

Lindsey currently studies Nursing BSN as a junior at the University of Iowa. College of Nursing professor Clarissa Shaw facilitates Henkenius' research endeavors. 

Describe your current project.

I am currently going into hospital inpatient floors and observing dementia patients' encounters with nursing staff to evaluate if they reject the care being offered. Overall, I am looking at the frequency and severity of their rejection to care behaviors.

What do you enjoy most about research?

I enjoy research because it contributes to problem solving with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care.

Outside of research and academics...

I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy playing tennis with any free time I have.

She has major plans after graduation:

After my undergraduate degree, I plan to go to grad school but am still deciding which route I will take!
