Ana Laura Leyser currently studies Biomedical Sciences as a junior at the University of Iowa. Department of German / Division of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures Associate Professor Kirsten Kumpf Baele, facilitates Leyser's research endeavors.
Describe your current project.
My project uses the legacy of Anne Frank to inspire children and young adults to share their voices through writing, encouraging them to express their personal stories and perspectives. Through digital storytelling, creative workshops, and community event
What do you enjoy most about research?
I enjoy meeting different people, teaching and learning from people with a wide range of backgrounds.
Outside of research and academics...
Outside of research, I dress up as the character Mirabel from Encanto and go play with medically vulnerable kids at hospitals, camps and facilities through A Moment of Magic at UIowa.
She has major plans after graduation.
After I graduate I want to attend medical school with the hopes of becoming a pediatrician.
