Biography
Tawny Tibbits

Tawny has a PhD in geoscience from the University of Iowa, a MA in anthropology from UTSA, and two bachelor’s degrees from U Iowa, one in geoscience and the other in anthropology. Her interests are granite, ground stone tool production, manufacturing, and use among the ancient Maya, and x-ray fluorescence. Tawny has been a faculty member at other institutions and an active researcher in Belize archaeology. 

 

In addition to her work, Tawny enjoys spending time with her family and exploring outdoors. They love to find cool hiking places and visit the parks.

Tawny loves talking rocks, any sort of history (recent, deep, whatever), travel, and music. Come by and say hi!
