Biography

I do research in the mechanisms of adult and youth psychopathology lab in the psychological and brain sciences building. We work with those who suffer from severe mental illness, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, to better understand the neural mechanisms that underlie their conditions in order to create solutions to help them in their daily functioning. I love research because it challenges your current understanding of academia. In your courses, you will learn about information that you plan to one day use for your future occupation, but in research, you are the person that is discovering the information that will one day be taught to students. This experience will drastically change the way that you think and learn. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games with my brothers, performing in community theater, and cheering on the Hawkeyes! I'm also involved with the Iowa Neuroscience Club and am currently a Latham Science Engagement Fellow.
