Andrew Behrens
I am a junior pursuing a Biomedical Engineering degree. I work in the Orthopedic Functional Imaging Research Laboratory located in the Carver College of Medicine Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation under Dr. Kevin Dibbern and Dr. Cesar de Cesar Netto. My work focuses on detection and surgical correction optimization of foot and ankle deformities.
I enjoy research because it builds upon what I have learned in my classes. It provides a real-world application for the material covered in my coursework. ICRU helped me find my current position and has provided me opportunities to present my work.
Outside of research, I am an Engineering Lead Tutor where I help oversee the College of Engineering’s tutoring program. I am also the Vice President of the UIOWA American Society of Biomechanics Student Chapter, where we offer outreach and networking opportunities for students interested in biomechanics. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors and attending Hawkeye football games. Go Hawks!
