Position Details
We make use an extensive semiconductor infrastructure, from epitaxial growth, to microfabrication, to electrical/optical characterization, to modeling for research and developing next generation compound semiconductor optoelectronics and photonics applications. These include materials and devices, for example, for environmental, medical, and chemical sensing; for eye-safe lidar for self-driving cars; and for single and entangled photon emitters for quantum computing platforms. Students can learn advanced semiconductor techniques, participate in projects, and help solve problems in semiconductor science. With the passage of the 2022 CHIPS and Science act, jobs in semiconductors and semiconductor innovation are booming, and will for some years to come.
