Project details
We are looking for laboratory assistants to work on several different projects including several projects about toxic air pollutants: polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in air near Portland Harbor, OR; PCBs in school rooms; PCBs contaminated sediments; and PCBs in New York City air. We are also studying emissions of organic chemicals from use of personal care products and emissions of chemicals from older building materials. Undergraduate assistants will be part of a dynamic and friendly team of researchers associated with the Iowa Superfund Research Program. We are a multidisciplinary team of faculty, research scientists, post-docs, and students from engineering, public health, medicine, pharmacy and public policy.
Qualifications
We prefer students with laboratory experience (which may be from a chemistry class), or data management experience (which may be from a math class). Students interested in an honors project are welcome.
Time Commitment
10-20 hours during the fall and spring semesters, 40 hours in the summer. We are flexible with schedules and hours.
