Project detailsC3G is an ultra-rare kidney disease affecting 1-2 patients per million. Our Natural History Study is a project working at developing a robust database of patients from around the globe with C3G. Currently we serve patients in 16 different countries. Approximately 1/3 of our patients are seen in clinic here at the U of Iowa, with some participating in investigational drug trials. 2/3 of our patients we communicate with remotely and obtain medical records from their local facilities. Through our database, our goal is to develop and validate useful models of disease progression in a longitudinal analysis of clinical data, kidney biopsy results and complement factors in C3G, which are run in our MORL lab.
Job responsibilities include working directly with the doctors, nurses and students on our C3G Natural Hx team, preparing paperwork for patient clinic appointments, reviewing medical charts & faxed information, inputting results into our database, communicating via phone or e-mail with parents/patients regarding obtaining blood samples at local labs, preparing lab orders and occasionally speaking with local labs, filing paperwork in our office, shredding, running blood samples from clinic to our MORL lab, making graphs, spreadsheets and exporting data from our RedCap database.
