Research Topic: Research in the Smith lab focuses on the inflammatory and endothelial response to acute surgical stress
Project and Position Details: Undergraduate students can become involved in our ongoing clinical research study. Their involvement would likely include processing plasma, serum and urine samples, isolating PBMC cells from blood samples, and isolating endothelial cells from human samples for mRNA sequencing. They will become and integral part of our research team and will have opportunities to present research findings at local and potentially at national meetings to build their science CV. If involved with our team for long enough, they may also have the opportunity to earn authorship on scientific manuscripts.
Qualifications: Must be comfortable working with human blood, tissue, and urine samples
Time Commitment: negotiable, minimum 3 hours/week
Compensation: Volunteer (Optional registration for URES:3991 or URES:3992 0-credit transcript recognition), Academic Credit (1-4 Semester Hours), Pay
Start Date: Immediate
